Brian's Love, Brian's Smile

He came into this world surrounded by love,
Love from his family, those who would nurture him,
Cherish him, feed him, clothe him, and train him.
And yes, even challenge him to always do his best.
And oh that smile!

He grew...

He started school surrounded by love,
Now he had a smile that would melt a stony heart.
A kindness and generosity that drew people to him,
Giving him opportunity to share the love he received.
And oh that smile!

He grew...

He had a zest for life, a mind for learning, a heart for caring.
He cheered the sad, he loved the unloved, and he gave to the needy.
He made friends easily and yet, never forgot his most faithful friends,
Were his family, because they loved him completely.
And oh that smile!

He grew...

The time came when he left home, his family standing proud.
He set goals and there was a world of things to do.
The Navy offered him its hopes, its honor, its challenges.
Brian could not resist, he joined with pride.
And oh that smile!

He grew...

He kept in touch with family back home, never forgetting their love.
His one constant thought was to make his parents proud,
It spurred him on and on, but now his life has ended.
He will grow no more, but before he left this world,
He made his parents proud.
And oh that smile!
